Bread making demonstration and talk by Janice Bell of Bread at Home.

This year marked 100 years of the beginning of World War One and 70 years of World War Two. Help commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice in our name and defence.
A service was held at St. Andrews Church, Quatt, from 10.30am and included the 11am marking of the Armistice.
People paid their respects to those individuals who served from Quatt. After the service the Church bells rang in commemoration.
Teas and cake were available at Quatt Village Hall, alongside items from both wars, forming a display, which had been kindly lent to Quatt Village Hall by family of those who fought in the wars. There wasn't an entry fee but £75 of the money raised from the sale of teas and cakes will go to a lasting memorial for those men and women who built the Spitfire. This is being done in conjunction with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Any money raised above £75 will go to the Poppy Appeal.

The Private misses the farm. The Captain dreams of painting. The Corporal relishes the fight. And a hundred years later, The Woman seeks to understand.
A startling new play about action, humanity, and the legacy of war. Each Slow Dusk charts the experiences of three young men serving on the western front, linking their stories to a woman today, just home to her village after a tour of the battlefields. You’ll never walk past a war memorial in the same way again.
Nationally acclaimed Pentabus Theatre Company present a forensic examination of the impact of war from the UK’s most exciting new playwright Rory Mullarkey, winner of the Harold Pinter and George Devine Awards.

A fantastic display of music, dance and traditions enthralled the Quatt audience. ''The evening went too quickly'' was the phrase used by so many after the performance. People came from as far as the welsh border, one person even dashed over from Cardiff. Many thanks to Arts alive and especially to the Osigili Maasai Warriors.
A great time was had at Quatt Village Hall Fayre, lots of lovely people with amazing products. Thank you all. Photos to come.

The extremely popular rootsy, tootsy folk group returned to Quatt bringing there own brand of wonderul acoustic music.
The hall was once again packed to bursting with plenty of toe tapping and waggling of hare ears. The evening was just magical. Many thanks to Steve, Sarah and Charlie, we hope to see you again soon.

A fantastic afternoon was had by all at Dr Lal Haider's Persian cookery demonstration.
Wonderful aromas filled the hall and taste buds were treated to some devine dishes.
Many thanks to Dr Lal and to those whom attended for making it a success fundraiser for The Epilepsy Society.

Saturday 22nd February
A fabulous nights entertainment performed by Rich McMahon and his sister Sam McMahon, brought a taste of Ireland to the Village Hall. Rich performed his own compositions interspersed with popular covers such as U2's 'Angel of Harlem' with beautiful harmonies from sister Sam. People travelled from far and wide, well... Birmingham, to catch a fantastic show. The performance encompassed popular music from down the ages and how it transcends borders. Rich was recommended by the wonderful Whalebone. We hope Rich, Sam and Maggie (Rich's partner) will join us again at the Village Hall in the not too distant future.

A lovely day was had by all. Plenty of chocolate, tea and cake was consumed.

This exclusive Whalebone concert featured the fantastic music of our talented Shropshire favourites and the Kelley and Matt McRae
Kelley McRae grew up in Mississippi but called Brooklyn home for years before teaming up with guitarist Matt Castelein in 2011, when the duo traded in their NYC apartment for a VW camper van and hit the road full time. Thousands of miles and hundreds of shows later, they have toured coast to coast in the US, played to packed rooms across Europe, sold-out the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and continue to build a passionate and dedicated following on the strength of their live performances.
Drawing comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch, the duo’s music is wide ranging - comprising haunting ballads, tender love songs, and energetic guitar driven songs full of hope. Paste Magazine’s 4 Star review raves “Kelley moves effortlessly from the mournful tones of the plantation to the celebratory swing of the saloon, from songs of loss and decay to hymns of love and grace.” Acclaimed film director Wim Wenders told the San Francisco Chronicle that Kelley’s songs move him to tears, and BBC Radio’s Bob Harris calls the songs ‘brilliant.’
Kelley’s music has been featured in numerous independent films, Lifetime’s Army Wives, MTV and commercials for American Airlines and Unicef. She has also taken the stage at major festivals such as the Riverbend Festival, Forecastle Music Festival, CMJ, and NXNE.

Quatt Village Hall Committee would like to thank Lajina for a fantastic cookery demonstration. Everybody went home inspired and well fed after sampling the tasty dishes.
Masala Magic, created by Lajina who has a passion for good, healthy, tasty authentic home style Indian food, as eaten at home for many generations. She has created the same flavours with the reduction of fat, sugar and salt and was encouraged by my friends whilst out eating in an Indian restaurant to start my own business, they much preferred my style of home cooking than the dishes offered commercially.
The spices are lovingly prepared, roasted and ground before being carefully measured and packed into the pots to make perfectly spiced curries.

Arts Alive Present DEBS NEWBOLD
Pitting the Montagues against the Capulets, Debs catapults audiences into the torrid streets of Verona in an unforgettable storytelling performance. With just voice, words and a charismatic stage presence, the whole world of Romeo & Juliet is recreated by this spellbinding performer. Originally commissioned by Shakespeare's Globe, and a sell-out at the Hay Festival, this poignant and often hilarious retelling immerses audiences both in Shakespeare's incomparable verse and the warm, poetic storytelling that is uniquely Debs' own, showing why her performance has been hailed “a masterful piece of verbal cinema.

Our annual Burns Night consists of a five course meal, including hearty haggis and tatties, a wee dram for each toast and poems, prose and fun.
A few photos from the evening can be seen below. Thanks to Mat Purchase for the photos.

Come and see Mike Wojniak on tour all the way from America.
Mike unique style has been shaped by artists such as Coldplay, Andrew Belle, Radiohead, Sleeping at Last and Bon Iver; however, while these influences are discernible, Wojniak’s airy melodies, auspicious lyrics, and intricate compositions don’t simply mirror the genre, they add to it.

It is with great sadness we report the death of Rich. For those who knew him and saw him perform will sorely miss him but will know of a kind, generous, warm and extremely talented individual. Our deepest condolences to Rich's family and friends.
